And there lies the rub for me: I could care less about the emotions involved with finding my way around an unfamiliar city. (Or any situation at all actually, since generally I find them distracting at best) I’m only concerned with success and mitigating the risks that could thwart that success. There is no room for feelings in a properly laid out plan. The acceptable time to enjoy a little emotion is after a successful resolution, as in a celebratory display of happiness at getting the job done.

Ted,
In their defense, the other intellectual types do not plan well. You might as play Peyton Manning at Safety: complete waste of talent.
They don’t understand planning and they don’t even understand HOW we plan. Them trying to plan is like watching a kid riding a bike for the first time: they’ve no clue what they’re doing.
Here’s a question: when making decisions, do you make a pro-con list? That is the dumbest fucking thing I have ever seen. I used to do that, when I was 12. Pro-Con lists are list-porn. They do NOT focus on the key differences between options. They obscure more than they clarify. They also take a TON of time.
But everyone thinks we make extensive pro-con lists of every single decision we ever make and try to do the same thing when they try to be “logical.”
So am I going to marry this guy? Better do a pro-con list! That’s what ADBG would do, he would weigh the costs and the benefits!
Uh, no, ADBG weighs costs and benefits, but not like that.
